Recent excavations near Winchester in Clark County revealed the remains of John and Abigail Constant’s station, offering rare insight into a family determined to build a life on the frontier. The Constants began their Kentucky journey at Boonesborough in 1779, later establishing their own small station in 1784. Just a year later, they endured an attack by a small contingent of American Indians. Remarkably, they stayed, rebuilt and continued to occupy the site long after.

Kreinbrink will share archaeological findings, stories of the Constant family and a closer look at how this resilient settlement helps us better understand early Kentucky life and the challenges faced by its earliest residents.
