Colorful History Along Covington's Flood WallsScreen Shot 2022 08 03 at 2.20.31 PM

NKY History Hour - 6:30 p.m., Wed., Aug. 10

Stretching 100s of feet along Covington KY's flood walls, are eighteen magnificent, colorful murals by internationally acclaimed artist Robert Dafford and his team. These captivating images depict the rich history of Covington, Northern Kentucky and the Roebling Bridge from 8000 B.C. to 2008 A.D.

From prehistoric buffalo crossing the Ohio River to a more present day depiction of the riverfront with historic riverboats and fireworks, each scene tells an important story of our area's history while creating a spectacular visual effect.

Join local author and historian Karl Lietzenmayer, as he gives a virtual tour of Northern Kentucky's beautifully painted water's edge during the next virtual NKY History Hour at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 10.

To register and participate in the free virtual presentation by Behringer-Crawford Museum, CLICK HERE.

Information on how to connect to the Zoom session will be sent after registration. The event will also be streamed on  Facebook Live.

Lietzenmayer, long-time member of the Kenton County Historical Society, has edited and produced Northern Kentucky Heritage Magazine for over 25 years and has promoted and documented Northern Kentucky history in many other ways — as researcher, adviser, tour guide and writer. He also has encouraged the preservation of original documents and photographs and helped start an intern program for budding historians.

NKY History Hours take place every other Wednesday evening. The sessions are currently free to the public but may become a BCM members-only benefit in the future. To support NKY History Hour and access many other entertaining and thought-provoking programs for free, join BCM today.
